Hello, welcome to Free GIS Tutorial. Today we are going to learn more about Mapinfo Discover or Datamine Discover. To avoid confusion, I will use the term Mapinfo that refers to the new version of Datamine Discover. We will show you how to add online topography data (WMTS) to Datamine Discover 2016 or newer. Web Map Tile Service (WMTS) is a fast way to obtain online georeferenced map information. For more information about WMTS, please visit this wiki page. There are many free services that offer many kinds of information. On this example, I am going to use the USGS Topography Data on my Datamine Discover.
First, we need to add the WMTS Server to Mapinfo. To do this, go to Home Tab and then click Open. Select WMTS from the web services list.
A new WMTS configuration window will open up. Click Servers and then click Add to add a new server. You will see the following window. Now add the server url and give a new name for this new WMTS Server.
Test the url before clicking OK button. When everything good. You can now open the online data source on Mapinfo.
