Hello everyone, welcome to Free GIS Tutorial for Beginners. Today, we are going to learn how to export vector file to Mapinfo Table on Global Mapper. Global Mapper is a great GIS Software that supports many file formats including Mapinfo Table (TAB). On my previous post, we learned how to open Mapinfo Table on Global Mapper. And now, we are going to export vector file from Global Mapper into Mapinfo TAB file. On the following example, I am going to export some portions of my river table. Global Mapper allows us to select the area we want to export or, we can also export the entire table to another format.
Steps to Export Vector Data to Mapinfo Table on Global Mapper
In general, you can follow these steps below to start exporting your vector file to Mapinfo Table. Please note that you need to open the vector file and make sure it is displayed on the screen.
- Open the vector file you want to export
- Go to File | Export Vector/LiDar Format
- Select Mapinfo Tab from the list
- Press OK
- Click Export Bounds tab and click Draw a box.
- Draw the box area to export and press OK
- Specify the output file location
