To improve the performance and usability of the ArcMap, you will need extensions. There are several extensions that you can purchase. If you are running ArcGIS for Personal Use, you will get the following extensions for free.
- Data Interoperability
- 3D Analyst
- ArcScan
- Geostatistical Analyst
- Publisher
- Schematics
- Spatial Analyst
- Tracking Analyst
I may not use all of them but personally, Data Interoperability is the must have extensions for ArcGIS users. By default, these extensions are not enabled. Follow these steps to enable extensions on ArcMap.
Steps to enable Extensions on ArcMap
- Open ArcMap
- Go to Customize>>Extensions
- Enable all the extensions you need and click close
- In some cases, you will need to restart ArcMap
