Hello everyone, welcome to the ArcGIS Pro tutorial for beginners. In this article, we will show you how to generate coordinates from the point layer on ArcGIS Pro. We will learn how to generate the XY coordinate from the existing point layer. If we want to display the point feature from the XY table, we can use the Display XY data tool.
In this example, we have a point layer as shown below.
The layer contains many points but it does not have the XY coordinate in the attribute table.
Now we are going to generate XY coordinates for each point in the layer. We will use the “Add XY Coordinates” tool. You can find this tool in the ArcGIS Pro geoprocessing toolbox.
Open the tool and then select the point layer
This tool will generate Point X and Point Y columns to the layer. These two columns contain the Easting and Northing Coordinates. We can specify the coordinate system by clicking the Environments tab and choosing the output coordinate system from there.
Click Run to start the process. Now we have the XY coordinates in the point layer
Thanks for reading this article and see you in the next tutorial. If you don’t have ArcGIS Pro, you can also generate XY coordinate from the point layer using QGIS.
