Micromine Tutorial – Create New Project

Hello everyone, welcome to Free GIS Tutorial. Today, I am going to share a basic Micromine tutorial. Micromine is a great software for mining and exploration company. I have been using this software for years now. It was a bit difficult to find a good and comprehensive Micromine tutorial on the net. Even though Micromine comes with a complete user guide/Help file, sometimes we still need more tutorial in order to know exactly how to use some features. On this first tutorial, I will show you how to create new Project on Micromine.

Micromine uses term “Project” to define it’s working directory. When we create new Project, Micromine will create (if not exist) a directory to hold all its files and working files. This project can be transferred (copy or moved) to another directory or computer. To create new project on Micromine, please follow these steps.

Steps to create New Project on Micromine

Go to File | Project | New. The new window will open up. Enter the new project details here.

On the New Project window, type the Project Name and then specify the location for the new project. Don’t forget to tick the “Create folder for project” if you don’t have the directory yet. This will allow Micromine to create new directory. Optionally you can give a title for your new project. Click OK. Don’t forget to change the units if you want. The default unit is METRIC.

Now your new project is ready. We can start working with Micromine now.
