Welcome to another Micromine tutorial. In this article we will learn how to create DTM in Micromine from points. I am using the old version of Micromine 2016. If you are using new version, it should be pretty similar. DTM is an essential part of a Micromine project. It helps geologist to have better understanding and perspective about topography in relation to the drilling program. DTM (Digital Terrain Model) is a 3D representation of the Earth’s surface that includes elevation data. It typically represents the bare ground surface, removing objects like buildings and vegetation, making it essential for applications in surveying, civil engineering, and GIS.
Steps to Create DTM from Points in Micromine
There are several ways to create DTM in Micromine. We can create DTM from grid, points, and also from string file. In this article we will create DRM from points data. If you have a contour string file, you can follow our previous guide to create DTM from string file in Micromine.
First import the points data into Micromine. We can import points from CSV, ODBC, Shapefiles, and many more.
Next, lets create DTM. Go to DTM menu and choose Create Surface.
Specify the point file and make sure the X, Y, and Z fields are correct. Next, open Output wireframe and choose DTM on the Type and then give it a new name.
In this case we leave Processing Options and Polygonal Restriction as is. Click Run to start the process.
In a few moment, the DTM is ready. Now we may need to modify the color.
Hopefully this article is useful for you who wants to learn Micromine. See you on the next tutorial and until next time.
