How to Export Mapinfo Table to Oracle Database

Personally, I like to explore the capabilities of different RDBMS with various GIS software. And in this article, I am going to focus on Mapinfo Professional and Oracle Database. Oracle is a popular database system used by Enterprise and large organization. Oracle and Mapinfo Professional could be a great combination even though I still find many difficulties to work with.

In this article, I am going to show you how to export Mapinfo tables to Oracle spatial database. I think this is a good start. I assume you already have an Oracle database installed on your PC or network. The following article is very helpful if you need to setup or install Oracle on your system.

Export Mapinfo Table using Easy Loader

Now, we are ready to export Mapinfo Table. We will use the Easy Loader tool. First, open Mapinfo Professional and then go to Tools | Tool Manager. Find the Easy Loader tool from the list and then enable it.

Now, Easy Loader should be available under Tools menu. Open it then click Oracle Spatial.

Enter your user ID, password and Server Name. In the server name, type the TNS name/connection of the Oracle database. Click OK. Next, click Source Table and browse the Mapinfo Table you want to export. Click Upload to start the export process.
