How to Create a New Table on Mapinfo Professional

Hello everyone, welcome to my GIS Tutorial website. Today, I am going to show you some very basic task of Mapinfo Professional. In most cases, if you have one or more Mapinfo tables, you can directly open them in Mapinfo. But, if you don’t have any table to start with, then we need to create a new one. Create a new table on Mapinfo Professional is very easy.

Steps to create a new table on Mapinfo Professional

Usually, I create new table when I need a new table to store my vector objects. So in this example, we are going to create a new blank table with map window. In this map window, we can then create objects such as points, lines, etc.

1. Open Mapinfo Professional
2. Go to File | New Table.
3. Click Open New Mapper if you want to start with a blank map window.
4. Click Create
5. Next, click Add fields as required.
6. Click Projection and select the correct projection for the new file
7. Click Create and give it a new name
